If you're at all into 80's alternative here's a novel project, based loosely on real life events.

Legend has it that the person behind the music of Ism f.c. found himself at a local flea market where he became intrigued by a shoebox full of old cassette tapes for sale. Some of them were blank tapes which still had their original wrappings - a treasure for modern day 4 trackers. Some were the leftovers of a mysterious and ancient lost custom, a Columbia House record club binge. Then there were a few very interesting used tapes with labels like "studio demo", "ep 2 master", and several worn tapes with names like "Budweiser practice session," "Rolling Rock practice tape," and "Yuengling Black and Tan rehearsal," all of them with dates from the late 80's. Turns out, upon some research, all these tapes were from a band called "The Clearing" who apparently had a fair bit of local success back in the days of analog.

I have taken these old recordings and reconstructed the songs by learning to play and sing all the music, and then I upgraded the sound by re-recording the songs from scratch using today's recording technology. Each song still contains some element of the original recording. Often lyrics were difficult to understand, so the new recordings will contain a fair bit of nonsensical phrases such as "your garden doesn't act like an elf." It's what it sounded like, so that's what's in the new recording. Some songs were left alone, made to sound very much like the original recordings. Some songs were reimagined somewhat. But they are all, hopefully, true to the original ethos of each piece.

Interestingly enough, the original members of The Clearing have been located, also using modern technologies, and are intrigued by the project. At least two of them have expressed interest in re-recording the new recordings of the original recordings. Make sense? We shall see how this all develops.

This is my story and I'm sticking to it.
