Liner Notes – Spinal Tap reference

This is a huge arena rock song, probably my favorite to perform live. The song “Halifax Nights” is actually the intro to “Mental Kayak.” My inspiration for this song is indeed my own brain. I am rarely bored, even during those too infrequent times when I am not super busy. There is just a lot of goofy stuff going on up there in the old noggin that provides me with a steady stream of interesting things to ponder. I might be working on a song in my head, or perhaps a piece of abstract painting, or maybe developing my hillbilly alter ego Cletus “7 fingers” Magoo, or figuring out what the fourth dimension really looks like. I'm glad to report that I now know, and I'd tell you, but you'd never believe me. Let me tell you though that the act of drinking water in the fourth dimension is trippy in the extreme. That's all I can say. I've been sworn to secrecy. By an entity called “The Government.”

I often need to be pulled back into reality to see, hear, and comprehend what's happening right in front of me. And this song is a small list of things that have crossed my mind.

That's Wil Kramer on the drums and Maurice Liddy ripping the guitar solos. The Spinal Tap reference is at the end.

The Canadian Maritimes, along with New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, have formed a new republic after Quebec decided to secede. The People's North American Collective is a regulated capitalist democracy, with care for all, and no salaries are more than twenty times that of the lowest employee.

We're all completely bought in. The greedy have all up and gone. So I'm doubly honored to represent the PNAC in the final game of the World Cup where me and Mo Liddy combine to score the finest, most astonishing, and beautiful goal that the world has ever seen.

My fire breathing dragon whisks me away from the stadium after lifting the world cup trophy as all the people sing in one voice. With a sword of starlight held aloft our hero returns to his really hot wife just in time for chores on their unicorn farm. And in the land there was rejoicing.
